Are You Ready? -- 2009 SIGN-UPS NOW OPEN!

Well, folks, the 2009 year is fast approaching! Sorry that I've been remiss in putting up a new post for the new year! I've not really even thought of it until today -- while realizing there's only really 2 weeks left of the year! Yikes!

So, ARE YOU READY TO SIGN UP FOR 2009??? If so, please add your name to the Mr.Linky below! Please make sure that your blog link is to the actual post where your list is...not just your main blog link. (so, for example, instead of just //tbrchallenge.blogspot.com, it would be something more like //tbrchallenge.blogspot.com/2008/12/18/my-list-here.html --only it'd be YOUR blog addy! LOL). If this is still unclear, feel free to email me and ask more! ;P

But, remember, please, that you cannot start reading for the challenge until January 1st, 2009. ;)

To remind you of the rules:
* the challenge is to read 12 TBR books in 12 months -- you can read those all in one month if you want, or one a month, or however you wanna do it.
* you need to have a list posted somewhere for others to see (even if it's in a comment here)
* you CANNOT change your list after January 1st, 2009!!!
* you can create an Alternates list of MAXIMUM 12 books, if you want, in order to have options to choose from (you can read these in place of books on your original list).
* audiobooks and e-books ARE allowed
* re-reads are NOT allowed, as they aren't TRUE "TBRs"
* you CAN overlap with other challenges
* OPTIONAL: you can join the Yahoo! Group created for participants of the TBR Challenge, if you want to have a place to keep your list, or just to share with others about how you're doing! :)

Okay! The countdown is on!!! Get your list(s) ready, and make sure you post the link to it in the Mr. Linky! ;)

EXTRA 2009 BUTTONS (feel free to use on your own blog!):

===============
Please Note: *** There is now a new SISTER challenge to this original version of the TBR Challenge... it's called "TBR *Lite*", and it's more "low-pressure"... SO, if you feel you can't read 12 books in 12 months, why not try out the new version? BOTH CHALLENGES will be taking place in 2009, so you can join either/or! Please only join ONE version, though. ;) Thanks! ***
Go to the TBR *Lite* CHALLENGE blog!

Haha - this is what I thought I was signing up for a month ago, which is (due to my stubborn nature) now forcing me to read 12 books in one month. I'm in for sure for 2009 - after all, it'll only be easier to have an actual year to do it in!

I read 10 of 12 last year! The challenge made me read some things that I probably would have put off otherwise. Looking forward to 2009...My list is on my blog. Happy reading, all! - B.

Okay, here we go. I picked books to make me grow in my walk with Christ. I love to read fiction so reading all these non-fiction books will be a real stretch for me.

I had planned on reading these books in the next few months (or selling them off), so this will give me the incentive to actually finish them. :) I'm excited!

I got distracted and didn't complete the challenge in 2008. This year I hope to stay focused and knock 12 books off my To Be Read pile.

I'm very excited about this year's list. I am very ready for it!

Lori said...

Last year's TBR was a very successful challenge for me so I'm pleased to be participating again this year. My '09 list includes almost all the books I didn't read from my '08 list (minus the one my daughter took) along with some new titles.
I wish all of the '09 participants great success this year!

Sara said...

I'm joining...I have a lot of books on my list to read, this will give me some great motivation!

Well, I wanted to read 12 books from my TBR pile this year but I'm not sure about setting them in stone, as it were. I've started my list but it will take a while for it to be complete.

I'm starting late, but really, since I had to turn a book in today (did that yesterday), and I was basically in a cave for the whole of January, my year is starting now. A month late.

I read a LOT, though with this next short deadline, I may read less than usual, but I want to move out some of the books I have camped out on my TBR shelves. (I have two. Plus a box under my bed I keep forgetting. Plus a totebag by the sofa in the den. Plus a sack or two by the nightstand.)

Anyway, by committing to these books, hopefully I'll get some stuff cleared out! This is a great idea.

Hello! this is an interesting challenge you have... I just got into blogging a couple weeks ago, and I've already started (and finished) one book this year.

Can I still join even if I'm late? :)

My blog is at:

Hello! I am hoping it is alright I'm joining a bit late! Never done one of these before, but this seemed like a perfect idea. Have so many books I'm always meaning to read next. Hopefully now I will. =)

I've never done a reading challenge before, so I'm pretty excited to participate, even though I'm tardy. I just put up my list.

Debbie said...

Even tho I'm late....I can do it! I have my post up. I'm excited.
It was nice being able to choose from my own bookshelf.

Deborah said...

So glad I found this challenge! I've never done this before but I'm in. I already had a pile of books I wanted/needed to read, so it was pretty easy to pick the 12. Now to be steadfast and unmovable, also a goal of mine. Keep pressing on with tenacity in whatever I'm doing - no procrastinating and no fizzling out. Here we go!
